August Tennis Lesson Sessions Available

Roanoke County is pleased to offer a series of tennis lessons for beginner level adult players. Registration fee includes instruction from current and former college coaches and players on the basics of the tennis stroke as well as specific drills aimed to improve each individuals game. Registration is limited to allow for adequate court time and personalized instruction for all participants. Register Online Here.

Splash Valley End of Summer Hours Announced

Beginning the last week of August, Splash Valley will be open on a reduced operating schedule to coincide with back-to-school activities. Hours are listed below. Please note that reduced $5 per person admission applies on days when Splash Valley is open reduced hours.

August Advisory Commission Meeting Cancelled

Please note that the Parks, Recreation and Tourism Advisory Commission meeting for the month of August has been canceled. The next meeting is scheduled on Thursday, September 16th at 6:00 PM in the Kessler Mill Road Public Service center conference room.

Green Ridge Pool/Gym Maintenance, Late August

At Green Ridge we're committed to providing a safe, clean, and healthy environment for our members and guests to play! Part of this commitment includes comprehensive annual maintenance throughout the facility. Later this month, Green Ridge will undergo an indoor pool cleaning and gymnasium floor maintenance to keep the center looking its best for our members and guests. These maintenance operations will require a temporary shutdown of portions of the facility. Looking at our schedule we felt the end of summer would cause the least disruption to our users. We thank you in advance for your support and cooperation!

Indoor Aquatics Area Shutdown
Saturday August 21 to Sunday August 29
The indoor aquatics area will be closed beginning Saturday, August 21, and re-open for normal operations on Monday, August 30. During this time, Splash Valley Water Park will be available to our members at no charge. Please note that Splash Valley will operate on a modified schedule beginning Monday August 23, 2010. There will be NO swimming lessons or aquatic-based group exercise classes during shutdown. All other areas of the facility will remain open during this time.

Gymnasium and Track Shutdown
Monday August 30 to Friday September 3
The gymnasium and the indoor track will be closed beginning Monday, August 30, and re-open for normal operations on Saturday, September 4. This is necessary as maintenance on the gym floor will require us to block off that area and portions of the indoor track surrounding the gymnasium. Land based group exercise classes will operate as scheduled. All other areas of the facility will remain open during this time.

We apologize for the inconvenience these annual maintenance operations will cause. Our staff is working to keep schedule disruptions like this one to a minimum. Thanks for your understanding!
