Winter Break Daycamp Offers Daily Field Trips!


Need some entertainment for the kids during winter break? Send them to Green Ridge for fun and daily field trips! Camp will meet in two sessions, December 20 to 23 and December 27 to 30. Just announced,here are the fantastic field trips your kids will get to experience:

WEEK 1: Science Museum, Skate Center, Movie trip to see "Tangled", and Chuck E Cheese.

WEEK 2: Skate Center, Hilltop Lanes Bowling, Movie trip to see "Yogi Bear", and Chuck E Cheese.

Internet Registration Upgrade on Monday, Dec. 13

Internet registration for Roanoke County Parks, Recreation and Tourism programs will be unavailable from 8:00am to 2:00pm next Monday due to an upgrade to our internet registration system. New Year's Family Day at Green Ridge, Jan. 1

Greenways Receive $50,000 from Novozymes


This week Roanoke Valley Greenways accepted a generous dontaion from Novozymes Biologicals toward the completion of the Roanoke River Greenway. The gift was the first to be recieved as part of the "Bridging the Gap" campaign, aimed at completing the Greenway segment between the City of Roanoke's Vic Thomas Park and Roanoke County's Green Hill Park by 2013. Greenways Coordinator Liz Belcher said, "This is a great start, and we hope it will encourage other corporations to follow their lead as we work to complete the Roanoke River Greenway". Belcher accepted the donation from Novozymes employee Bob Blankenship on behalf of company president Pat Patterson.
