Virtual Tour of Green Ridge Now Available

Want to get a sneak peek inside Green Ridge Recreation Center? Now you can see inside the building from your own computer with a brand new virtual tour. The pictures you see here represent the building under construction at over 95% completion. Green Ridge opens January 1st.

Black Friday Drop-and-Shop Added

We've added a new course to the program lineup, not included in the upcoming REConnection Magazine Fall Supplement. Need to get some shopping done on the most popular shopping day of the year-Black Friday? Kids will have a fun day at Green RIdge REcreation Center with structured games, crafts and activities. Several Green Ridge Programs Open For Registration

Even though our grand opening is two months away, we've opened several general recreation classes for registration right now! This lineup reflects only a small sampling of the many great Roanoke County Parks programs that will be held at the center starting January 1. These new courses are previewed in a supplemental edition of REConnection Magazine arriving in mailboxes next week. Green Ridge Indoor Pool Filled With Water!

Roanoke County Introduces "Playschool"

Introducing a new program for some of our youngest participants – Playschool! Starting in January, Green Ridge Recreation Center is proud to offer a quality, licensed, recreation-based Playscool. Children will learn through play during recreation and classroom-based activities. Our comprehensive playschool curriculum focuses on the development of your child’s social skills, kindergarten-readiness and fine/gross motor skills. Our Playschool offers children the opportunity to develop their skills in a constructive, fun and educational environment. Children will be provided with the opportunity to explore, examine and discover numbers, letters, colors, music, movement, cooking, arts and crafts and their physical world. Playschool students will also have the opportunity to use all the amenities of Green Ridge to enhance their “hands-on”
learning! In order to participate in Playschool, children must:

• Be between the ages of 3 and 5 years old as of January 1, 2010
• Be able to actively participate in a 3-hour program without the assistance of a parent
• Be able to follow and accept directions and structure, as necessary
• Be able to take turns and share in a cooperative manner
• Be able to respect others and their property
• Be able to toilet independently

Choose what schedule is best for you and your child and sign up early to reserve your spot! Spaces are limited! You will be sent an information packet at time of registration that will include all policies, procedures and necessary forms for your child’s complete participation in Green Ridge Playschool. Fall Supplement Guide Arrives Next Week

Roanoke County Parks is proud to introduce our 5th annual publication, arriving late next week in mailboxes throughout the valley! This supplemental edition of REConnection Magazine will contain updates and additions to our Fall 2009 program lineup, including over 50 programs to be held at the new Green Ridge Recreation Center.
