We're terribly sorry about your experience at the park. Roanoke County had nothing to do with the decision to hold or not to hold fireworks there, and I am quite surprised to hear that it was published on www.Roanoke.com. The event was completely organized and carried out by a local church. We will do some investigation into how and why it was published in the paper.

We were really disappointed to show up at Greenhill park for fireworks and there were not any. Not everyone, especially older people have access to the internet or even know where to look for information. There should have been a sign posted stating no fireworks at the entrance to the park. Roanoke.com website still listed there would be fireworks, food and live bands. By the time all the people waited to see if the fireworks were going to happen, it was too late to go anywhere else to watch. You really dropped the ball on this. I had a friend come 50 miles to watch our fireworks. Very disappointed.

I'll pass your concerns on to management. Facility attendance and lifeguard staffing impact our ability to keep the pool open during the morning, but the more we hear feedback like this, the greater the chance we will expand or change pool hours in the future.

I am a member of Greenridge Rec Center and a grandmother of a toddler. We have really enjoyed the facility since January, especially the wonderful pool. However, I am very unhappy that neither Splash Valley nor the indoor pool is open any morning hours this summer. Toddlers nap in the afternoons and go to bed early. The only practical time toddlers can use the pools this summer is at meal times. (Roanoke residents can go to Splash Valley at 1100, but as Botetourt residents we cannot go until noon) I think it unfair to not have some pool time in the mornings so toddlers can enjoy the facilities that have been so well designed for them. Retired members like myself also prefer to have recreation time in the mornings. I think it only fair that some pool time be available during the morning hours.

The class formerly called "Power Sculpt" is now "Body Pump". It's still a strength training class, but in the Les Mills format. Currently we offer classes every night. Monday through Friday at 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30pm. Each night there is a mix of cardio and strength formats, including cycle. The class size issue is a harder one to handle. Typically attendence for this type of program dies down as the weather perks up. If we find that does not occur for us we will consider implementing a reservation system, as there is only limited room for expansion of these programs during peak times.

Where did our Power Sculpt class go in the evenings? Also, are there going to be more Cardio Combo classes added in the evenings? It's very crowded in them right now. We can barely move around. Thanks.

"Finally, if you have had problems with a staff member don't hesitate to contact us" we have, but nothing happens. We can't expect things to improve when the management are the ones guilty of not doing anything/enforcing the rules that they came up with in the first place. Its a lost cause

This post is a response to the customer commenting on the number of children and teens at Green Ridge. We're sorry your experience here has been a negative one. During the first few weeks of operation we had a greater than expected influx of teens, especially upstairs in the wellness center. Our staff has made efforts to tighten up enforcement of the rules regarding age. I have forwarded your concern about use of the gymnasium during adult basketball times, but please know that at Green Ridge ages 16 and older are considered adults. As a multi-generational facility, we encourage healthy fun for both youth and adults. Finally, if you have had problems with a staff member don't hesitate to contact us with your compaint at GreenRidge@RoanokeCountyVA.gov. If we have specific infomation about the time and nature of the problem it will be addressed. Thanks!

This schedule looks just like the old one, in that the star symbol next to the program name indicates that it is free for members. The file I uploaded was an editiable document, so the stars may be harder to see but they're there. Try printing it out.

Hi Took my grandson's to this event - it was great. This was Christmas in July for children of all ages. The people that displayed their trucks were so friendly and nice. Thank you all so much for making such a fun event for children possible, I am sure it was a lot of work to put it together but please have it again next year.
