Jazzercise Classes Begin on Monday

It's not too late to sign up for Jazzercise with Roanoke County Parks! We've got programs at Green Ridge Recreation Center, Brambleton Center and Bent Mountain Elementary School starting through the month. Register Online Here

Green Ridge Snow Day Program Featured

Green Ridge Recreation Center offers an affordable snow-day solution this winter, featured today in the Roanoke Times. Kids can come to the center between 7:30am and 6:00pm on sno days. $50 for a full day, or $25 for a half day. We request that children bring a bagged lunch with no glass containers. Call 777-6300 for information.

Green Ridge Pool Closed Monday & Tuesday

Due to an unforseen construction issue, the indoor pool at Green Ridge Recreation Center will be CLOSED on Monday, January 11 and Tuesday, January 12 for repairs. We apologize for any inconvenience this temporary closure will cause.

More "Family Track Times" Added at Green Ridge

Family Track Time is a great way for children ages 6-9 years to get that much needed exercise. The track will be open to children and their parents for walking or jogging laps and performing calisthenics in designated areas during the following times:

Monday-Friday - 11:30am-1:00pm & 3:00pm-4:00pm
Saturday-Sunday - 11:30am-1:00pm

Green Ridge Activity Room Equipment Announced

We're excited to let you know that the "Activity Room" at Green Ridge will be open by February 20th. This unique room behind the Green Ridge front desk houses a wide variety of interactive gaming equipment designed to keep you moving and fit. See some of the latest technology and move your body through interactive games, including:

Light Space Play Floor - An interactive 10 ft. square surface with pressure sensitive lights to create single or multi-player games.

Makoto Sports Arena - A motion sensitive space between three towers that allows users to practice sports like kickboxing, or play physical games that are a cross between "whack-a-mole" and "simon".

Trazer - Snap on a wireless motion sensor to your body and enjoy games and workouts in front of a large TV screen, unconstrained by chords, wires or machines.

Blue Fit - Step on the right arrows and exercise just like Dance Dance Revolution, but with the opportunity for more players to become involved.

Gamercise Steppers - Tone your muscles on a stair step machine while playing interactive video games. You've got to keep moving to keep playing!

Wii - If you don't have your own Nintendo Wii at home, feel free to use ours! It's a great way to work out while playing fun games with your friends.

Balance Board - Improve your balance while enjoying games like snowboarding and skateboarding.

The indoor family leisure pool at Green Ridge is open, and we want to make sure you're informed about which areas you can use when you visit. Check out our new downloadable pool schedule now online. You don't have to be a member to use the pool at Green Ridge. Daily admission to the center covers your admission to the pool.

Green Ridge Group Exercise Schedule Posted

We are happy to announce that you can now download a group exercise scheudule containing wellness amd aquatics classes at Green Ridge Recreation Center this week. Download the schedule here, then print it for your own reference. Please note that classes with a "star" symbol by them are for members only, and free for members on a drop in basis. Classes without a "star" are open to the public, but must be signed up for in advance at www.RoanokeCountyParks.com

Winter 2010 Registration Open for Residents
