Experience Harrisonburg Trip - Nov 4

Experience the rich history and beauty of Harrisonburg, as you tour the Hardesty-Higgins House (circa 1848), home of Harrisonburg's first mayor, Isaac Hardesty. The museum also houses the Valley Turnpike Museum located on the famous road from which it was named, now known as U.S. Route 11. Explore the history of the road, from its beginning as a buffalo path to Stonewall Jackson's famous Valley Campaign, to the toll road era and the development of the interstate highway system. Next stop is the Virginia Quilt Museum, located in the 1856 Warren-Sipe House, offering significant work by both early and contemporary quilt artisans. A special lunch treat is a family style meal served in an Old Order Mennonite farmhouse. There will be stops at the Dayton Farmers Mkt. and the Cheese Shop in Stuarts Draft.
